Coach Dave Symmonds Joins the BC United Staff

BC United is proud to announce the addition of Coach Dave Symmonds to the BC United Coaching staff. Coach Symmonds brings a wealth of experience to the Club, including time as Director of Coaching for Blackhawk Soccer and Assistant Coach for the Geneva College Women's soccer program. Symmonds holds his USSF D License, his Level 3 GK Diploma as well as USC specialty diplomas in the area of sports psychology and defensive tactics.

Coach Symmonds begins as Director of Goalkeeping and Staff Coach, under Director of Soccer Marcus Burrows. As Director of Goalkeeping, Coach Symmonds will build-out and execute BC United's goalkeeper program, available free to BC United players weekly, including positioning, movement, handling, distribution and communication. As Staff Coach, he will bring his deep experience to his team.

Coach Symmonds' philosophy, "...will always center around coaching the whole player, not just the athlete. Its been said that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care, and I find that to hold true in sport as well. As a coach, if you want to push your players, and you should, I believe they have to know that you care about them and have their best interests in mind."

That player-centric approach resonates with Director of Soccer Marcus Burrows, "Coach Symmonds and I spoke at length prior to him coming aboard. He wanted to ensure our approach to personal development as well as player development and ensure his voice would be heard. With such a great depth of experience, it's a bonus for our players to hear his voice during their progression at BC United."
