Joe Coveny Promoted to Assistant Coach

BC United is happy to announce the promotion of Joe Coveny to Assistant Coach - Girls Academy. Coveny joined the Club in February of 2022 as a Staff Coach, responsible for technical applications and providing in-game assistance.

Coveny, a 2022 graduate of Westminister College, played for Blackhawk High School and his club soccer for LC Select. He matriculated to Westminister, where he played at right back for the Titans for four years as he obtained his degree in Business Administration, Professional Sales and Marketing. As Assistant Coach, Coveny will focus on the 2008 and 2010 girls sides for the rest of the 2023 season.

Said Coveny, "It’s an honor to be able to coach players at different ages and play a part in their development growing up. Being a part of the game for over 20 years, I’ve learned a lot of ways to develop myself, my teammates, and now my athletes. To take what I have learned and give it back to the game adds another trophy on my wall of achievements. It’s great to be out on the pitch with a new perspective and a new appreciation of the game"

Coveny plans to complete his USSF D License in the summer of 2023.

Director of Soccer Marcus Burrows said, "We couldn't be more pleased with Joe's dedication to the Club and his progress as a Coach. He's attentive to the needs of the players and he's flexible in his approach which makes him well-suited to working with different Head Coaches. He does a great job with the technical side of the game and is expanding his tactical knowledge daily."
